http://antiquehistoricalmaps.blogspot.com I am a lot like the customers I talk to every day, I have loved maps, including antique and historical maps my whole life. I have been using them in the other half of my life, my graphic designer half. I love the feeling and the romance they give to my assignments. I like thinking about the ancient times and how different the world was then. I also enjoy looking at the drawings the cartographers put in their maps, the ships, the sea monsters, especially the sea monsters, all the decorative elements, it takes me back centuries and to places around the world. Wondering how could these guys draw these maps with out the use of satellites, or planes or even photography, just stories and tales, They add so much to my life, sometimes more to life than to my projects.
We receive calls all the time from graphic designers, web designers, history teachers, all kinds of folks looking for vintage antique maps. I have always wanted to help but haven’t been able to offer a variety of antique maps.
Trying to find historical maps for my clients has always been a problem, getting good quality royalty free maps without any rights issues that are of high enough resolution that I could use for any type of project. Looking for vintage maps that will print well for both electronic, printing and web use. I have looked for maps that are affordable and that I can get enough of to be able to offer my clients a wide range of good choices. I have also looked for maps that I can offer for a one time price with out additional royalty fees for.
In my research to find maps to draw for our other collections I stumbled across these beautiful antique maps right here in the United States and available to all. Cool antique vintage map like this do exist. In our search for and building our existing collections we came across tons of great historical maps. I found them at the US Library of Congress, the official collector and cataloger of everything for our country. And as a credit to the builders of this country they are available for all. One of the problems with them is that there is a massive amount of them and not all of them work well and they needed to be cleaned up. So we have spent the last three years selecting, processing, cleaning up and sizing the maps. We have put together a collection of over 130 maps that are perfect for graphic designers, packaging designers, website developers, book publishers, educators, teachers, and scrapbook enthusiasts. Perfect for those making prints or art or design. For years teachers have contacted us about access to historical maps. Well now we can offer them
We wanted to be able to offer as complete a collection as we could. I wanted to include not only World and US maps, but maps of Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, maybe some states and cities.
Over the last three years of collecting and searching I realized I have enough antique vintage historical maps to build a collection. So with chipping away here and there I processed all of the maps. I think we can bring out 3 CD-ROMs of Antique and Historical Vintage maps from 1500-1900 in one collection. These maps are ready for projects or for presenting or teaching, or for just dreaming about a different time and place and perspective on the world.
So keep watching this space as we pull together all of our details, we still need to get the packaging done and the discs duplicated, but very shortly we will have a great collection available for all.

it’s crazy on how …
it’s crazy on how accurate maps became in the 1800′s
I don’t know how …
I don’t know how they figured all this out, no satellites, planes, anything
It’s pretty amazing …
It’s pretty amazing how accurate some of these maps are without the use of satellites.
