I have a four year old who is a little more advanced than kids his age. I’m doing homeschooling with him until September when he starts kindergarten, but until then I am looking for some decent free websites to help me with curriculum. I’ve been browsing for the past few days, and find that with all of the different sites it’s either hit or miss-usually a miss. To specify what I’m looking for-printable versions of North America with the states clearly labeled-full names-not abbreviations. Simple addition and subtraction, mix and match of words and pictures, a little more difficult than cat, dog, bird, duck, and horse. Also blank penmanship papers with the dotted line in the middle. I would also love any suggestions for simple arts and crafts/nursery rhyme/song and dance activities. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Here are some I like that are free:

http://starfall.com

http://www.dltk-kids.com/

http://www.tlsbooks.com/

also

http://gamequarium.com/readquarium/ – This one is cool because it links to other sites with free online phonics, sight word and other reading games)
.
http://www.kellyskindergarten.com/ – This is a site by a k teacher; just ignore the parts about classroom management. The games to make are really good and totally free. You can print up sight word and phonics games to use like Go Fish, Memory etc. The really cool thing is that the cards are customizable if you click on the word and type in a new one.
.
http://www.uen.org/Lessonplan/LPview.cgi?grade=0 – This one is by the Utah Department of Ed. It has really great hands on/exploratory curriculum for classrooms. A lot of the activities are perfect for home too. Like domino addition. Or dice addition. Those might be in 1st grade. You can print up their recording sheet.

Partly free:

http://enchantedlearning.com

http://abcteach.com

http://atozteacherstuff.com

(This one is like a little online store for teachers, but the units were made by individuals, so it’s cheap. They also have free lesson plans and ideas like on a bulletin board. I’ve just changed them up a little. A lot of the stuff is free.)

Paid:

http://www.readinga-z.com/

(It has little printable books. I liked the variety for independent reading when my kids were just beginning. We still read literature)

Have fun. I’d include more but YA only allows 10 links.

how can Listen new songs,or any website?

Google for sites where you can listen to MP3 downloads of children’s music. I know Amazon.com has a lot available. You can listen to brief sections of the songs before you download, or before you order cd’s. Some artists I recommend are Jack Hartman, The Learning Station, Lori Berkner. These are more recent artists and if you’ve been teaching a while, you may not be familiar with them. Do check them out as they are a lot of fun and very constructive. There is also a series called I Am Moving I Am Learning that I use a lot, and I still love Thomas Moore, Ella Jenkins, Greg & Steve, and a few more. (Drawing a blank! Will add to this if more names come to me!)

I have a four year old. I want to know what should she know before she goes to kindergarten. She know how to write and say her ABC.her numbers 1-11 and she know how to turn on a computer and move around to different websites. What does she need to know now?

I would start with the basics, counting to 10, recognizing colors and some shapes, etc. Also how to use crayons and simple things like that. They will learn the rest. Also, you may want to make sure the child is okay with sharing, authority figures besides the parents, etc.

He is having trouble on his letters, sounds, sight word, counting, recognizing his letters, and reading
Please help i don’t want him to be in kindergarten again!

If you can read to him often, and ask him to tell you about the story you have read, such as who is the main character, what does like or does not like about the story etc. This will help with comprehension.

If you can buy some coloured alphabet fridge magnets, and teach him the letters of the alphabet, the sounds they make and begin teaching simple words, such as c at makes cat, teach him how to spell his name, by using the alphabet letters and writing it out his name, then get him to copy it.

To help with writing, I have included some links which you can print off stuff, which can also help with the alphabet and learn to write.
