I don’t know of any free websites that do a good job, most of the free sites I’ve seen are so full of adds or have incomplete lessons/confusing lessons/lack of structured curriculum.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the highly overrated, overhyped and overpriced RS is just a commercial "gimmick" aimed for parrots, because all it does is make people repeat simple things like a parrot, nothing else! No context-based learning, no grammar explanations, no nothing. Therefore, things like this can never bring anyone anywhere near fluent in any language, nor replace real face-to-face language lessons/other learning activities.
