There are websites for teaching overseas, but I haven’t located one to find teachers that you once knew. You might try this however:

What websites are good for an e-group where students can make a group with their teacher for school?

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

it has to be a site where the e-mail addresses are from different mail servers such as yahoo, hotmail and g-mail.

try http://www.coollist.com/ for a simple discussion e-mail list.
http://www.quicktopic.com/ might also be worth a try.
This http://collegeruled.com/ looks interesting, you put up your schedule, people can link their schedules to their facebook accounts and (most importantly) discussion boards for all classes.
Also this site http://www.schoopy.com/ maybe useful also.

any websites that i can find job as being a mandarin teacher?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

i am a mandarin teacher in Taiwan..have taken 2 years to teach mandrin in crime school. can u tell me the website that i can find job oppertunities in US??( sure as being a mandrin teacher)

Thanks for help

Your best bet would probably be to contact the school boards in the US. Most school boards have a website that ends in k-12.edu, or something like that. There aren’t too many sites that advertise teaching positions across the US. I had found one, but I’ve forgotten it now.

Another possibility would be to apply to a placement agency such as International School Services or Search Associates. While the more often place American and other nationals in schools outside of the US, there are some international schools in the US. Some of those might be looking for Mandarin teachers.

By the way, you would most likely be teaching the simplified characters, not what is used in Taiwan.

What Are Some Of The Websites I Can Go To On Getting Information On Becoming a Teacher?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Need information on the salary and the benefits of being a teacher

This is actually a tougher question than it looks! If you’re looking for information on how to become a teacher, I would check with local universities that offer teacher education programs. They aren’t all the same; they start at different times, have different pre-requisites, and offer different classes.

As far as the salary goes, unless you’re in a state like WA that has a standardized salary table for public schools, you’ll have to check district by district. Most schools are hiring now, or have recently finished hiring, so their salary tables will be up on the district website. Also, the salary changes dramatically depending on the credentials you have to teach; master’s students earn more than bachelor’s students, and so on.

The benefits of being a teacher…. well, the answer to this depends on what kind of benefits you’re looking for. If you’re a public school teacher, you get really good benefits when it comes to medical and dental type benefits. If you’re talking about emotional benefits that come from working as a teacher, well, those are pretty good too- I love it! You have to be someone that wants to teach though. Around 50% of teachers leave the profession within the first three years. It isn’t an easy job!

Good luck!
