Comparing between English and Spanish idioms BBC-Learning English

There are about more than 2000 idioms, so I really hate them, regarless they are very funny. 1/6 of all idioms have the same literal and metaphoric meaning in Spanish words. It really caught my eye, but I am wondering how come it happens.
