What websites are good for an e-group where students can make a group with their teacher for school?

it has to be a site where the e-mail addresses are from different mail servers such as yahoo,hotmail and g-mail.

try http://www.coollist.com/ for a simple discussion e-mail list.
http://www.quicktopic.com/ might also be worth a try.
This http://collegeruled.com/ looks interesting, you put up your schedule, people can link their schedules to their facebook accounts and (most importantly) discussion boards for all classes.
Also this site http://www.schoopy.com/ maybe useful also.
